As we close out 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been an extraordinary year for Southeastern Indiana REMC. This year, we have lived out our mission— “to safely provide reliable electricity and diversified services to the members and communities we serve”— with remarkable dedication and innovation.

From launching new member-focused initiatives to strengthening our infrastructure, 2024 has been a year of growth and progress. It’s also been a year where we’ve laid the foundation for an even brighter future in 2025.

Celebrating 2024 Successes

 

This past year, we marked significant milestones in service delivery and member engagement:

• Expanding Fiber Connectivity: SEI Fiber has continued to bring high-speed internet to underserved areas, transforming connectivity for homes and businesses alike. Through new promotions and enhanced offerings, we’ve made it easier than ever for members to access reliable internet service.

• Improved Member Engagement: With events like ‘Co-op Days’ and community-focused projects, we’ve reinforced our commitment to serving all demographics within our seven-county territory. These efforts are a testament to our cooperative values of service and collaboration.

• Operational Excellence: Our team has embraced cutting-edge technologies and data-driven solutions to ensure reliable electricity for every member. From infrastructure upgrades to proactive maintenance, we’re committed to continuous improvement.

• Workforce Development: Attracting and retaining talented employees remains a priority. We’ve invested in training programs and created a culture that rewards hard work and innovation, ensuring that our team remains strong and future-ready.

Looking ahead to 2025, our strategic planning efforts have positioned us to build on this year’s achievements. During our 2024 strategic planning session, we identified key initiatives to guide our cooperative forward:

1. Maximizing Technology: We’ll continue to leverage existing technology while exploring new, data-informed solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and service.

2. Advancing Fiber Connectivity: SEI Fiber’s expansion will remain a top priority as we work to bridge the digital divide and bring world-class connectivity to even more people.

3. Creating an Outstanding Work Environment: By fostering an environment that attracts, retains, and rewards talented employees, we’ll ensure a workforce that’s prepared to meet future challenges.

4. Sustaining Financial Strength: Our financial health underpins everything we do. We’ll focus on long-term sustainability to support our mission and strategic goals.

5. Engaging Members: We are committed to connecting with all members to ensure everyone feels valued and heard. From innovative digital communication tools to in-person events, member engagement will take center stage.

2025 is set to be a year of opportunity and innovation. Highlights include:

• The launch of our virtual ‘on demand’ annual meeting in May, offering greater accessibility and convenience for members to participate and engage with their cooperative.

• Community gatherings with workshops, expos, and events tailored to member interests and local priorities.

• Continued investment in infrastructure and technology, ensuring safe, reliable service for our growing membership.
