Myers Program Agreement Smart Thermostat Program Installation Verification Installation Before you pick up your ecobee: Check if Your Equipment is Compatible Most customers are able to install the ecobee3 lite in 30 minutes or less. Check compatibility with your HVAC system before purchasing. This thermostat is not compatible with electric baseboard heating systems. Installation Support What's a C-Wire? A C-wire (common wire) is a low voltage power wire that many modern thermostats require for their features to work. This ecobee3 lite requires a C-wire or installation of the power extended kit (included) to work. Many older homes don't have a C-wire because mercury and battery-powered thermostats didn't require one. Therefore, it is important that you make sure that you have a C-wire and that your HVAC system is compatible with ecobee's thermostat. To determine if you have a C-wire, please consult ecobee's compatibility checker . You can also hire an HVAC contractor to help you install the C-wire and thermostat.

  • My Solar | SEIREMC

My Solar COMMUNITY SOLAR OFFERED TO YOU BY YOUR LOCAL ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE Affordable, sustainable and safe supply of solar electricity is being offered in partnership with our wholesale provider, Hoosier Energy. This program will be extended on a first-come, first-served basis to all members who want to invest in, and be a part of, a cooperative solar program without having to own and maintain a rooftop solar system. You asked for it, we researched it, and we are now offering it: solar energy for your home without the hassle of ownership or maintenance! Southeastern Indiana REMC heard your request for more renewable energy. We understand that in our region, it may be hard for some of our members to do this on their own. Trees, permits, financing and roof issues may have been road blocks in the past. But not anymore. Southeastern Indiana REMC is excited to offer a community solar program called My Solar. This program allows any member to use solar energy at their home or business without installing or maintaining a private solar project. Member participants are able to share in the output from one of 10 solar arrays already located around southern Indiana. The power generated at the solar arrays is transported from the arrays, through the poles and wires Southeastern Indiana REMC has already built and maintains. Nothing new needs to be attached. You’re set! The My Solar program offers members the opportunity to purchase one share of the community solar project. One share is equivalent to the energy from one solar panel. The size of the panels varies between the 10 solar sites, but averages ~330 Watts. In one year, one share will produce ~450 – 500 kWh. Each participant is limited to 12 panels – approximately three kW. Southeastern Indiana REMC participants will have the option of either paying a fixed monthly rate or an upfront payment for participation in My Solar. Detailed information on the payment plan(s) can be obtained by clicking the button below or by calling our office at 800-737-4111. We are excited to talk to you about My Solar! The My Solar program will work for any property; home or business. Now you can support renewable energy without the hassle of ownership. Southeastern Indiana REMC is excited to offer this great opportunity that allows you to decide where your energy comes from. • Vegetation Management | SEIREMC

Vegetation Management Our communities depend upon the safe, reliable and affordable delivery of electricity. One of the leading causes of interruptions to the safe flow of electricity is trees and other plants growing too high or coming too close to power lines. To safeguard the reliability of the distribution system, Southeastern Indiana REMC has implemented a vegetation management plan to control the growth of trees and other woody-stemmed vegetation around equipment and rights-of-way. The goal of this plan is to balance our society's need for reliable energy with respect for the environment while complying with all applicable laws and federal requirements. Proper selection and placement of trees minimizes the need for utility pruning Trees are responsible for nearly two-thirds of our outages each year Southeastern Indiana REMC trims trees on our electric system on a regular 5-year cycle Trees must coexist with a variety of human-made structures, both above and below ground. Most commonly they compete for space with overhead power lines, but trees also conflict with communication lines, street lighting, buildings, lines of sight, sidewalks, roads, and underground utilities. The best way to maximize the many benefits provided by trees is to plant them where they will not outgrow their space. However, trees that threaten the integrity of utility or other vital infrastructure must be pruned or removed. Stormy weather can blow tree limbs into distribution lines, causing outages, and even toppling the trunks entirely, breaking poles and creating hazards. Limbs and leaves in contact with power lines can conduct electricity, creating a potentially dangerous condition for anyone who comes near. Tree-to-line contact also contributes to what electric system professionals call "line loss." The term refers to electricity created at a generating plant that does not reach its destination, an inefficiency that increases costs for everyone. Southeastern Indiana REMC spends considerable amounts of money every year to trim trees. The REMC specifies to our contractors that all power lines should be cleared at least 20 feet on each side of the power line and 20 feet underneath the line. Experience has shown us these are the minimum distances we can trim to keep a safe, reliable flow of electricity and be cost-effective. Please contact our office if you have trees on your property that could endanger the power lines. Do not tackle this job yourself. Every year amateur tree trimmers are hurt or killed when trying to clear limbs near power lines. Call the professionals at the REMC. Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden Southeastern Indiana REMC partnered with the Cincinnati Zoo in 2011 to allow them to collect clippings twice a week during the months of June, July and August. These clippings are taken back to the zoo, washed and freeze-dried, to help feed the animals throughout the winter months. Helicopter Tree Trimming Highly skilled pilots use a 10-bladed saw, suspended below the helicopter, to trim limbs in right-of-way reducing the risk of injury to tree workers, as well as the time and cost associated with ground-to-sky trimming in difficult terrain and remote areas. National Wildlife Turkey Federation Southeastern Indiana REMC has partnered with the National Wild Turkey Federation to plant wildflowers and grasses in our right-of-way’s when possible

  • What is Streaming TV | SEIREMC

Which is better? Traditional vs. Streaming: Every family’s needs are a little different, and your home internet and TV experience should be customizable to your preferences. If you’ve been using cable or satellite to watch all your regular content for as long as you can remember, maybe it’s time to consider the switch to streaming. Let's take a look at the benefits and drawbacks of traditional TV and streaming options to help you decide which might be best for you. What is streaming? Streaming video is the process of watching your favorite movies and shows via the internet, instead of a traditional cable or satellite TV connection. There are a variety of streaming platforms, including Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime. These and others offer a wide selection of content in an accessible and user-friendly location. Streaming can simplify your viewing experience and provide access to more content than you might have had with cable or satellite TV. We’ll walk you through how to set up streaming in your home , but first, let’s consider some of the benefits of streaming your movies and shows. Benefits of Streaming: Streaming can save you money because you can be more selective about what you’re paying for. You can put your streaming accounts on hold when you’re not using them. If you use a platform to follow a sports team, you could put your payment plan on hold during the off-season. It’s easy to pause and recontinue these accounts, and it also helps save money! With SEI Fiber’s fast fiber internet, you don’t have to worry about interruptions or delays in your movie nights. Our reliable Wi-Fi connection will ensure a positive viewing experience for you and your family! When you stream, you don’t have to limit your viewing to your TV. Watch your favorite shows on any device, whether it’s on your phone at the gym or taking your tablet out to the porch. Wherever you have internet connection and a device, you’ll be able to log onto your streaming platform and press play! Streaming video also reduces the amount of time you spend watching commercials. Many of the most popular subscription streaming services let you watch your content commercial-free or include an option to skip the ads. Which Streaming Platforms Should I Choose? As the world moves from cable into streaming, more subscription services are becoming available. How do you choose which is best for you? Depending on what you like to watch, you may just need one or two subscriptions. Even if you want multiple subscriptions, you can often package them together to end up with a lower-cost result than cable TV. Here, we’ll explain each of the most popular streaming services and the factors you should take into consideration: There are two different kinds of streaming: On-Demand and live. With On-Demand, you can watch a selected movie or show whenever you like. Most On-Demand providers allow you to pause, play, fast-forward, rewind, or rewatch shows as often as needed. Live TV streaming lets you watch content like local news channels, sports, and TV shows live. Features such as video recording, pause, and rewind vary according to the provider. Some providers combine On-Demand and live streaming and allow you to watch live content real-time or after the initial broadcast. With some live TV streaming services, like DIRECTV Stream, Sling TV, and YouTube TV, you can record your favorite shows and store them in the cloud so that they're always available to you. We encourage you to do additional research to find the best streaming TV service for you. For instance, you can get a package deal that combines Hulu+ Live TV with Disney+ and ESPN+, for $69.99 a month. You can use many different add-ons to combine services and get the most out of your streaming experience. If you’re still hesitant, check out the available free trials. You never know if you’ll end up preferring streaming over cable TV. If you want an easy way to find the best streaming option for you, use our MyBundleTV tool for customized recommendations. Setting Up Streaming: Streaming video over your fiber internet is a quick and easy way to enjoy interruption-free entertainment anywhere in your house! What do you need? Fast and reliable internet (you can already check this one off if you have SEI Fiber) A streaming device such as: An Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, or Roku Streaming Stick that is connected to your TV and Wi-Fi. Streaming devices include a universal remote control to sync with your TV. A Smart TV that is connected to the internet. A tablet, laptop, or smartphone that is connected to Wi-Fi. Keep in mind that you don’t need all of these. Depending on your streaming needs, choose one that will work for you and enjoy! A subscription service to a streaming service or channel, as explained above. If you opt for a Smart TV or Roku stick, your platforms will be streamlined and even more user-friendly. With some Amazon Fire TV Stick remotes, you can use voice control through Alexa to search for a specific movie or show across all your subscription services at once. To ensure your TV receives a strong Wi-Fi signal, make sure your router is centrally located in your home. If you want to stream in a room that is far from your router and has a weaker signal, you may want to consider purchasing a Wi-Fi extender ! It will ensure that every corner of your home has a connection you can count on. With SEI Fiber’s new customized streaming tool, you’ll be able to submit your entertainment preferences and discover what streaming services would be recommended for you. You can even search your favorite TV shows to find new ways to watch them via streaming. Get started with MyBundleTV .
